This General Mills Horizons mini magazine was provided to shareholders in the Fall of 1969. The magazine provides a financial update, recap of the annual shareholder’s meeting, and other current events happening at the company. It measures 6″ x 9″ and has 24 pages.
Kenner was purchased by General Mills in 1967 and is mentioned a few times in the magazine. The first is this picture of a young boy carrying Rex, the Tyrannosaurus styrofoam toy as part of a “fashion show” that took place at the 41st annual shareholder’s meeting. The meeting was held in the General Mills’ General Office building cafeteria, Minneapolis, MN, on September 16th.
Kenner also gets a mention in the New Products section with the Dune Buggy, which was introduced at the previous Spring Toy Fair.
The Play-Doh Funny Pumper from Rainbow Crafts is also highlighted in the update. A year later in 1970, Rainbow Crafts, and it’s famous Play-Doh line will be merged into Kenner Products.
